We have successfully introduced a New Standard in housing envelope – wall performance, which will help RSLs to com-ply with WHQS(2), Futuregenerations and achieve Societal requirements of hygrothermal efficiency, affordable warmth and decarbonisation through an effective Fabric First approach and maintain the aesthetic historic streetscape. We have successfully controlled humidity and therefore reduced instances of mould, and achieved 0.32 WmK U insula-tion value. The EPC has been raised from D to C (in points, almost B) from previously under-performing cold and damp properties.

We have demonstrated the use of the insulating version of the tried and tested Vivus Solutions render coat and utilised these materials as a system, in order to lower interstitial humidity, where present and insulated the properties, enabling Housing Associations and tenants to maintain those balanced levels for the life of the building with minimal future maintenance and therefore lowered the impact of the buildings on the environment and increased tenant comfort without adding any form of mechanical assistance and continued energy usage. The energy use of the houses has dropped by a minimum of 50% and as much as 70%. Continued monitoring is being carried out. The result is true and effective decarbonisation.
